SILK:
Matter & Devotion
To spin, for the silkworm, is to surrender from within - a quiet unspooling of one’s own life, offered wholly to a beauty it will never live to see. Just like an artist and their work: pulled out thin and dark from a body that had no other way to speak.
In Vietnam, the silkworm carries the weight of an ascetic ritual. It consumes, spins, and seals itself inside its own architecture. Along the riverbanks of Tân Châu, that thread absorbs the dark tannins of Diospyros mollis (Mặc nưa) to yield Lãnh Mỹ A, carrying the cold, lacquered density of river water at midnight. Making something that endures demands the maker's quiet concession of self, without hesitation.
