PORCELAIN:
The Lingering Trace
On the potter’s wheel, raw white clay answers the lightest pressure. Even the faint brush of a fingertip leaves an immediate mark in the soft earth. The artisan cannot rush; sudden force will pull the clay off center or tear the wall. Guiding it takes patience, hands moving slowly so the surface can settle without bruising. Our skin shares that exact sensitivity: receptive, quiet, and holding onto every touch long after the hand pulls away.
Once fired into porcelain, the vessel appears calm and firm, yet its fragile nature never changes. One careless grip is enough to break it. It asks for a gentler touch: held with both hands, received with careful fingers, and kept at a distance that is neither too close nor too far. That measured distance is simply a quiet way of caring for something fragile.
